Jeanette Batten

Jeanette is the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital and PFI Trust Representative for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, following previous Director appointments at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and more recently at Barts Health NHS Trust. Jeanette started her PFI journey over 20 years ago writing the design and service specifications for the Pembury Hospital, and as project manager she led the non-clinical requirements through competitive tendering to commercial close, through construction and then on to the hospital commissioning programme incorporating the move and migration of staff and patients from the previous two hospitals. Jeanette spent the next eight years at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells as Director and the Trust Representative, the Pembury Hospital notable as the first Acute NHS hospital with 100% single bedrooms with ensuites. Joining Barts Health as Group Deputy Director and Trust Representative, Jeanette was responsible for two PFI Agreements, one of which being, one of the largest PFIs in the country. Darent Valley Hospital was one of the very first PFI Hospitals in the UK opening it's doors in September 2000. Jeanette's PFI projects have covered all waves of PFI and the key stages including financial close, commissioning, operational phase, dispute resolution and contract novation. Jeanette has now started navigating the complexities of a first wave PFI handback.
