Acorn Velindre
We have taken tangible steps to address long standing inequalities within the construction sector. Women now represent 30% of our project management team—double the national average—and 5% of our site workforce, compared to a 1% national benchmark. Our multicultural team spans 14+ nationalities, demonstrating our belief that diversity drives performance, innovation, and social equity. Through focused recruitment, education outreach, and accessible site facilities, we have secured sustainable roles for Not in Education Employment or Training, Long Term Unemployed and disadvantaged individuals, with 257% of disadvantaged worker week targets achieved. Our culture extends far beyond our workforce. Through extensive school engagement, over 9,940+ pupils have experienced STEM learning, hands on engineering activities, and career inspiration. Our Community Learning Platform (1000+ users) has delivered 429 hours of EDI training, connecting young people with jobs, training and apprenticeships—already helping individuals like 18 year old Ben secure life changing opportunities. These initiatives exemplify our mission to raise up young leaders and empower the next generation. We are committed to wellbeing, work–life balance, and healthy working practices. Guided by the Velindre Way, our environment is collaborative, psychologically safe, and aligned with strong corporate social responsibility—ensuring our people feel supported, and proud of the legacy they are creating.
