The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Project exemplifies operational excellence, strengthened collaboration, and industry leading technical compliance across Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals. Over recent years, all partners have constructively challenged longstanding practices, aligning around shared goals to drive continuous improvement and deliver exceptional patient focused services.

Equans’ on-site performance remains consistently strong, delivering 99–100% statutory PPM compliance and high reactive maintenance performance across more than 3,600 monthly events. This reliability is reinforced by consistently positive customer satisfaction results. Enhanced collaboration has further improved outcomes, with jointly developed visual communication tools—such as maintenance boards and flash cards—significantly improving clinical engagement and operational transparency. A major milestone has been the multi-party review of 165 performance parameters, resulting in the first agreed performance report in over a decade. This collective effort has resolved contractual ambiguities, strengthened trust, and ensured the estates strategy fully aligns with contractual obligations. Lifecycle and variation management have also advanced. Shared planning workshops, refreshed variation processes, and proactive engagement with clinical teams have created a unified, and proactive whole life approach to asset planning. This has supported the delivery of complex programmes, including major lifecycle works, such as full nurse call replacement across both sites. Sustainability achievements include progress on heat decarbonisation, solar feasibility studies, and theatre ventilation rationalisation, alongside extensive ESG contributions that deliver meaningful community impact. Despite changes in personnel, the project continues to thrive—reflecting a resilient, values driven partnership focused on improvement, innovation, and long-term value for the Trust and the communities it serves.
