Sizewell C

Sizewell C is constructing a new nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast that will generate reliable, low carbon electricity for around six million homes and play a central role in helping the UK reach its net zero goals while strengthening energy security. Sizewell C’s ESG Policy, formalised in 2023 as construction activity began to scale, sets clear expectations on inclusion, health and wellbeing, communities, low carbon construction, circular economy, biodiversity, water stewardship, innovation and supply chain engagement.

Two examples of innovation within the ESG Policy includes Sizewell Creative, launched in 2024, to strengthen community cohesion and support wellbeing by placing creativity and cultural participation at the heart of project delivery. In 2025, it delivered a wide programme of creative activity across the region, working with schools, community organisations and the workforce to build confidence, connection and aspiration. Another area is Sizewell C’s long term approach to nature recovery. New habitats and nature reserves are supporting ecological restoration while providing local residents with access to restored natural landscapes. Together, these initiatives contribute to a projected 19% biodiversity net gain and reflect the company’s commitment to enhancing Suffolk’s environment alongside essential national infrastructure.
